Dan CaldwellThe Burlington County Board of Chosen Freeholders and the Burlington County River Route Advisory Committee today announced that the Northeastern Economic Developers Association (NEDA) has selected Mr. Dan Caldwell, Chairman of the River Route Advisory Committee and principal of Stout and Caldwell Engineering of Cinnaminson, as its 2009 Volunteer of the Year.

This award recognizes an individual who serves in a volunteer capacity, without pay, to promote effective economic development with service to a community, region and/or organization with demonstrated leadership and long-term commitment.

The River Route is a collaborative effort by the County and 12 municipalities working to revitalize the 17-mile segment of the Route 130 Corridor that parallels the Delaware River from Palmyra to Florence.

Freeholder Director Joseph B. Donnelly said that the award is a testament to the commitment of the county and municipalities to create sound investment, development and redevelopment in Burlington County under the leadership of Dan Caldwell.

“We congratulate Dan for his award, and thank him for the personal time and energy he has committed to the marketing of the River Route region,” said Donnelly. “The River Route has been, and continues to be, a successful economic development work in progress.”

To date, more than 203 major businesses have invested more than $2 billion in new projects, creating more than 3,000 new jobs in the process.

Added to the efforts of the county freeholders and the River Route committee has been the investment of transit-oriented development up and down the corridor.
During Mr. Caldwell’s participation with the committee, 179 properties or projects were targeted with 127 being completed to date. The completed projects include 4,882 residential units and 18,835,952 square feet of retail, commercial and industrial space.

The Northeastern Economic Developers Association (NEDA) consists of over 500 professional economic developers committed to sound economic development practice in the eleven (11) Northeastern States.

Mr. Caldwell will receive a formal award at NEDA’s Annual Conference on September 21 at the Hyatt Regency at Penn’s Landing in Philadelphia.
